Updated August 9, 2025 at 11:35 AM
As the country anticipates the comprehensive repiping of its water infrastructure, Minister of Work, Maria Browne has emphasized the importance of ongoing road patching to keep vital transportation routes safe and accessible.
Recent works in communities such as Piggotts and Grays Farm showcase the ministry’s commitment to addressing immediate road safety concerns while preparing for the larger-scale water pipeline project.

Road patching serves as a preventative measure to stop further deterioration, minimize hazards for motorists and pedestrians, and protect surrounding infrastructure from additional damage caused by potholes and surface wear.
Minister Browne also highlighted that these maintenance efforts are critical in ensuring that the daily flow of traffic remains uninterrupted and that residents can travel safely throughout the island.
The Ministry also expressed appreciation for the crews’ ongoing dedication, acknowledging the challenges of working under tropical weather conditions and within busy community areas.

Local residents have welcomed the patching initiatives, noting improvements in road conditions that contribute to safer and smoother travel.
The Ministry of Works continues to encourage public patience and cooperation as these essential maintenance efforts pave the way for the upcoming water infrastructure upgrades.
